MicroStrain® has developed a high speed, triaxial accelerometer node, designed to operate as part of an integrated wireless sensor network system. The accelerometer node (Figure 1) incorporates three 2G MEMS accelerometers, programmable intelligence, 2 Mbyte data flash memory for storage of logged data, a 916 MHz radio transceiver, antenna and battery leads. This device is capable of both datalogging data from sensors as well as real time streaming of sensor data. Up to 1000 G-LinksTM may be operated by the MicroStrain® Base Station transceiver. While this application note uses G-LinkTM wireless accelerometer nodes to demonstrate this simultaneous data collection functionality, this application note also applies to other products in the WirelessLinkTM family, including V-LinkTM, SG-LinkTM, and I-LinkTM.
