Tech Note: Using a Hardware Datalogger with 3DM-GX4

Barry Trutor

"Many inertial applications incorporate dataloggers. The datalogger can take many forms: hardware or software, analog or digital, simple or complex, and/or combinations of all.

"In this technical note, let's work through a digital datalogger with an OEM (circuit board) form factor. The inertial sensor is connected to the datalogger via an RS-232 communication interface. The inertial sensor is pre-programmed to automatically send data when powered."

Senior Technical Support Engineer Barry Trutor details how to use a hardware datalogger with our GX4 line of inertial sensors.

Application Note: Drill Path Measuring Sensor

The 3DM-DH3 for precise downhole orientation

The 3DM-DH3's advanced MEMS measurement tools are factory-calibrated for out-of-the-box directional surveying, enabling oil, gas, mineral, & water drill operators to maximize the integrity and uptime of their various wells at a highly cost-effective price point.

The 3DM-DH3 ships with easy-to-use PC software, allowing the user to configure the sensor, view real-time measurements, and download logged data for post-processing. Users, integrators, and OEMs who develop their own applications can take advantage of the 3DM-DH3's Data Communications Protocol manual, which provides a complete instrument command set. Custom applications can readily be developed in any coding language and on any computing platform including microprocessors.

At a special awards ceremony March 26th in Burlington, Vermont, it was revealed that LORD MicroStrain had earned the #2 ranking in the statewide "Large Company" category.

"We are extremely proud to once again receive recognition as one of the Best Places to Work in Vermont," said Andy Winzenz, LORD MicroStrain's Director - Global New Ventures.
