Marketing & Sales Manager, Wireless Sensing Systems #313052

Incumbent will create the strategic marketing plan and coordinate sales and marketing activities globally for the wireless sensing systems and SensorCloud™ product lines. He/she is responsible for coordination of activities between various functional and regional groups including Marketing, Sales, Technology, and Operations to maximize sales growth, attain a leading market position and maintain profitability. Incumbent will lead, create and/or coordinate market research including marketing and applications, technologies, and competitors and translate into product line and market strategies. He/she will engage in customer contact, industry meetings, marketing, technical and local associations, and sales channels as well as provide effective leadership to the local and regional teams. Effective fulfillment of the function requires: extensive knowledge of applicable products, markets, sales channels and tactics; ability to direct effective implementation of new product and/or business development programs; leadership skills; technical knowledge or ability to understand applicable technologies (and the products evolving from them) and their potential use and value in customer applications; evaluation, planning, organization, and decision making skills; ability to plan and implement responsive strategies to achieve business objectives; and the ability to effectively utilize external and internal resources.

Mandatory Qualifications

B.S. degree, preferably in business or related technical discipline. 5-10 years experience in Marketing, Sales, Business Development, or customer-facing Engineering role with specific emphasis in wireless sensing systems and technologies used in industrial measuring/monitoring environments. Excellent communication and management skills. Strong knowledge of marketing policies and practices, human resources, leadership, and demonstrated decision-making and risk-taking skills. Strong problem-solving capabilities. Ability to interface with various cultures, industries and customers. Ability to: manage multiple projects simultaneously; travel as necessary (potentially up to 60%), often with as little as 24 hours notice; and effectively address multiple programs, customers, and issues. Strong communication and presentation skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Non-Mandatory Qualifications

MBA degree. Experience with indirect sales and channels of distribution. Strong network of professional contacts in the industry. Working knowledge of financial and/or accounting principles.

Engineer/Sr. Engineer-Software or Web Developer #313057

LORD MicroStrain Sensing Systems is looking for a Software Engineer or Web Developer to work on long-term projects, including the next generation of the company's desktop software. This software will use web technologies (HTML, Javascript, etc.) for the user interface, as well as C++ for interfacing with wireless and wired sensors. Our software interfaces with various hardware sensors, measuring highly accurate data at extremely fast speeds. The software will display this data to the user and provide a method of configuring the devices that are sampling. As a member of the software team, you will be working as a team with other skilled and dedicated developers in a creative, casual environment, while still being challenged to come up with ideas and problem solve. The team is constantly improving by meeting for code reviews, discussing best practices, and learning new tools and technologies. Many goals will be assigned to you which require you to work independently as well.

Mandatory Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, or related field with at least 3 years experience or Masters in the same with at least 1 year experience. Strong web development skills (HTML, JavaScript). Professional desktop or web application development experience. Proven ability to develop well tested and maintainable code. Experience with effective GUI design and layout. Object oriented design skills. Ability to turn high level requirements into actionable tasks working with minimal supervision. Strong learning ability, can understand complex systems and come up to speed on existing projects quickly. The applicant must be accustomed to working in a team environment with challenging requirements and demanding schedules.

Engineer, Software - Wireless Sensing Systems #313051

The primary objective of this position is to help develop, maintain and support our highly scalable data aggregation platform SensorCloud. This position is responsible for developing scalable, secure, customer driven features to improve and evolve this big data platform. The candidate will work closely with other engineering teams as well as most of the teams in the facility. Additional responsibilities will include collaborating on the architecture and design of the platform, assisting with customer support requests, and maintaining existing features with the goal of cutting cost while increasing reliability and scalability in a cloud environment. This position is responsible for providing engineering leadership and support of development and production testing in a very dynamic environment. The candidate will be responsible for projects which entail working directly with team members to transform concepts and specification into detailed design and/or test plans and follow through with the execution phases. This will require working closely with all internal and external customers in order to address their requirements to accomplish a final deliverable. A focus on how the software engineering component impacts project cost and contribution to the continuous improvement is critical.

Mandatory Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science with 1-3 years experience or Masters in the same with 3-5 years experience. A strong understanding of best practices for web scalability, reliability, and security is required. Must have excellent coding ability and a willingness to learn and prototype with new web technologies. A background in Python development. Familiar with HTML/Javascript. Experience developing and designing in a cloud environment, preferably Amazon Web Services. Experience using development tools like Redmine, Subversion, and Hudson. Familiar with agile and test driven development. The applicant must be accustomed to working in a team environment with challenging requirements and demanding schedules.

Experience with Hadoop/MapReduce or similar tools. Theoretical background or experience with big data, data mining, or AI.

Orientation Technician (Inertial Sensors) #313043

LORD Corporation, MicroStrain Sensing Systems, is seeking a technologist within the inertial sensors department. Primary responsibilities include the test, calibration, and failure analysis of orientation sensors. The incumbent is expected to perform failure analysis on PCB assemblies to the component level; solder/rework PCB assemblies (using microscopes and handling small surface mount parts); work with engineers to test, calibrate and validate inertial sensors; analyze, repair and calibrate customer returned materials; and work with other technicians to perform production tasks on an as-needed basis. Occasionally, incumbent may fabricate custom assemblies required for calibration of units (cable assemblies, etc.).

Mandatory Qualifications

Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Equivalent. Capable of planning, organizing, and working independently to maximize work output. Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on being a team player with a positive, professional attitude. Proficient at reading schematics, performing failure analysis, using an oscilloscope and digital multi-meter; able to recognize areas needing improvement and subsequently execute solutions. Incumbent is expected to contribute to identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and be willing and able to work overtime, as needed. Solid computer skills with a demonstrated ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook as well as various label-making programs.

Non-Mandatory Qualifications

Ability to use machining tools (lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, sanders, etc.). Fundamental understanding of orientation sensors is beneficial. Programming skills, particularly using LabView, are helpful as is experience with Computer Aided Design CAD.

Technical Writer, Communications Specialist #313053

Incumbent will utilize strong writing skills to develop technical content that describes and illustrates creative ways to use, operate and troubleshoot the full line of LORD MicroStrain Sensing Systems products. In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, the incumbent will take the lead in creating intuitive user manuals, quick-start guides, tutorials and other instructional materials covering key product applications and solutions in the form of print, web and other interactive electronic media. Effective fulfillment of the function requires product training, including the use of the products and associated software and the applications for which they are designed, requiring the ability to use related software applications and grasp and understand engineering concepts surrounding these products and their development. The incumbent will create standardized documentation templates, then use the templates to create product specific documentation that clearly and logically explains how to use, operate and troubleshoot products, with the aid of drawings, diagrams and graphics. The incumbent will be required to maintain version control of documentation and provide feedback to engineers relating to the use-ability of products.

Mandatory Qualifications

B.S. degree, preferably in an engineering field (mechanical, electrical) with exceptional writing skills or 3-5 years of technical writing experience with a background in mechanical or electrical engineering. Experience using desktop publishing applications and graphics applications. Ability to learn technical concepts quickly and be able to clearly explain them in writing. Excellent communication and writing skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Non-Mandatory Qualifications

Prior experience writing technical documentation using engineering concepts. Experience using programming language. Familiarity with sensing systems technologies, products and uses. Experience with programming language (MATLAB, C++, Java, etc.) is a plus.
