Wireless Torque Monitoring for Unmanned Rotorcraft Flight Test Applications

ABSTRACT

Effective and accurate torque monitoring has been, and will continue to be, an ongoing challenge in the industrial, agricultural, and aerospace arenas. Torque measurements are useful as an indicator of mechanical system health and desirable for test and production run assets. Recent adoption of wireless technology provides a more convenient and, arguably, more accurate measurement of torque. Work presented here is representative of LORD MicroStrain® Sensing Systems efforts working with the military flight test community on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
