IMU Inertial Measurement Unit

An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is an electronic device that measures and reports force, angular rate and sometimes the magnetic field surrounding a sensor/body. Using a combination of accelerometers and gyroscopes, IMUs are typically used for real-time vehicle stability and terrain compensation, and allows a GPS receiver to work in GPS-denied environments.

IMU Sensors in Different Performance Levels and Packaging

Our Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) include direct measurement of acceleration and angular rate, are fully temperature-compensated and calibrated over the operating temperature and use MEMS gyro and accelerometer technology to create highly accurate, small, lightweight devices. Available options for different performance levels and packaging enable you to select the right sensor for a wide range of applications, including construction and AG vehicles, UGVs and robotics.

High Performance Industrial Grade IMU Solutions

Our high performance industrial grade IMU sensors can be used in off highway inclinometer and mobile robot applications such as UGVs that require dynamic roll/pitch accuracy, low sensitivity to vibration and temperature, and low latency.

Precise and robust in challenging environments, LORD high performance and industrial grade OEM IMU sensors provide accurate and reliable data, processing multiple degrees of freedom in highly complex applications. Applications

Robotics

Because they can be programmed to perform dangerous, dirty and/or repetitive tasks with consistent precision and accuracy, industrial robots are increasingly used in a variety of industries and applications. Using LORD IMU within an industrial robot, allows for real time stability and terrain compensation.

UGV’s (Unmanned Ground Vehicles)

Navigation subsystems are integral to the performance of unmanned ground vehicles. Conventional, high-performance navigation systems support unmanned solutions but are limited in their application due to their size, weight, power consumption, and cost concerns. LORD IMU's provide unmanned ground vehicles with the information required to reliably navigate unstructured settings in a low-power, cost effective manner.

Construction, Mining, Agriculture

Off-highway ground vehicles are exposed to harsh and variable operating conditions. Understanding the exposure of individual vehicles is critical for maximizing up-time and optimizing maintenance practices. LORD dynamic inclination detection, real-time vehicle stability control and terrain compensation provides the vehicle with the information needed.
